Dear Minister Reem Alabali Radovan,
Re: The Developing Country NGO (DCNGO) Delegation Welcomes Germany’s Pledge to the Global Fund’s 8th Replenishment
The Developing Country NGO (DCNGO) Delegation applauds Germany for its commitment of €1 billion to the Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment. Germany’s early and substantial pledge sends a strong signal to other donors and reinforces confidence in the Global Fund partnership. Despite fiscal constraints and competing priorities, Germany has demonstrated steadfast commitment to saving lives, ensuring long-term impact, and promoting greater sustainability.
This pledge is a powerful demonstration of Germany’s enduring leadership in global health and its continued investment in equity, resilience, and innovation. Germany’s long-standing partnership has been instrumental in saving more than 70 million lives through the Global Fund, advancing human rights, gender equality, and strengthening health and community systems worldwide.
The stakes could not be higher. HIV, TB, and malaria continue to claim lives and threaten progress. Without strong and sustained support, hard-won gains risk being reversed, with devastating human and economic consequences.
Germany’s pledge to the Global Fund will enable greater investment in communities and civil society, address human rights and gender inequalities, strengthen multi-stakeholder mechanisms such as CCMs, and enhance civil society participation in health systems strengthening, ultimately saving more lives and advancing the goal to end AIDS, TB and malaria.
The DCNGO Delegation extends its sincere appreciation to the Government of Germany for its steadfast commitment to global health and to the people most affected by HIV, TB, and malaria.
Yours sincerely,
The Developing Country NGO (DCNGO) Delegation
